Ingredients
Tea Ingredients
- 1 ½ inch turmeric root, cut into small pieces
- 1 ½ inch ginger root, cut into small pieces
- 3-4 slices lemon, plus more for serving
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1/8 tsp coconut oil or ghee
- 4 cups filtered water
- Honey or sweetener of your choice (optional)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Place the chopped turmeric root, ginger root, lemon slices, black pepper, coconut oil, and filtered water into a small saucepan.
- Heat and Boil: Cover the saucepan with a lid and heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil, which takes about 7-8 minutes.
- Steep: Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and let the tea steep with the lid on for an additional 5 minutes to allow flavors to infuse.
- Strain and Serve: Strain the tea into glasses to remove the solid ingredients. Add honey or preferred sweetener if desired, and serve garnished with a slice of lemon.
Notes
- Adding black pepper increases the absorption of curcumin from turmeric, enhancing the tea's health benefits.
- The coconut oil or ghee helps dissolve the fat-soluble compounds in turmeric for better efficacy.
- Adjust the amount of ginger and turmeric to your taste preference or desired potency.
- Honey should be added after the tea cools slightly to preserve its beneficial properties.
- This tea can be enjoyed hot or cold depending on your preference.
