Ingredients
Garlic Butter Mixture
- 40 grams / 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, chopped into small pieces
- 1 tablespoon chunky minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
Tortillas and Cheese
- 3 medium tortillas
- 1/4 cup cheese (any mild grated cheese)
- 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
Garnish
- Fresh basil leaves
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350-375°F or Gas Mark 4-5). This ensures it reaches the right temperature for perfectly baking the garlic bread.
- Prepare the garlic butter: In a small bowl, combine the chopped butter, chunky minced garlic, dried basil, dried parsley, and dried oregano. Use a spoon to mix thoroughly until the ingredients are evenly incorporated into a creamy garlic butter mixture.
- Assemble the tortilla layers: Place two tortillas side by side on a chopping board. Dollop spoonfuls of the garlic butter mixture onto the tortillas and spread it evenly using a butter knife, creating a flat, uniform layer over both tortillas. Repeat this spreading for the second layer of tortillas.
- Add cheese topping: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the garlic butter layer on the tortillas, followed by an even layer of the other grated cheese.
- Create the double layer stack: Carefully remove one tortilla and place it onto a baking mat. Prepare another single tortilla with garlic butter and cheese using the same method, then stack it on top of the cheese-topped tortilla to create a double layer.
- Bake in the oven: Place both the double layer tortilla garlic bread and the separate single tortilla on the middle shelf of the preheated oven. Bake for 10 minutes, then use tongs to carefully remove the single tortilla and place it on a chopping board. Continue baking the double layer tortilla for an additional 5 minutes. Once done, remove it from the oven carefully.
- Serve: Using a pizza wheel, slice the garlic bread into manageable pieces. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve warm for the best flavor and texture experience.
Notes
- You can use any type of grated cheese you prefer; mozzarella adds great meltiness and stretch.
- Adjust the amount of garlic to taste if you prefer a stronger or milder garlic flavor.
- For a crispier texture, bake a bit longer but watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Fresh herbs can be substituted for dried if preferred, use about three times the amount.
- Serve immediately to enjoy the garlic bread warm and melty.
