Description

This creamy and flavorful Smoked Salmon Dip combines smooth cream cheese, tangy sour cream, and savory smoked salmon with fresh herbs and a hint of lemon and spice. Perfect as a party appetizer or snack, it pairs wonderfully with bagel chips, crackers, or as a spread for bagels. Ready in just 15 minutes, this no-cook recipe is a delicious way to enjoy smoked salmon.

Ingredients

Dip Ingredients

  • 1 cup (8 oz) cream cheese
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (from 1 lemon)
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • ¼ teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • 4 oz smoked salmon, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped dill
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chopped chives
  • Salt, to taste

Serving

  • Bagel chips or crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Blend base ingredients: In a food processor fitted with a metal blade, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, fresh lemon juice, drained capers, and Tabasco sauce. Pulse the mixture until all ingredients are well blended and smooth.
  2. Add smoked salmon and herbs: Add the roughly chopped smoked salmon along with the fresh chopped dill and chives to the food processor. Pulse again, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed, until the salmon is finely chopped and evenly incorporated into the mixture.
  3. Season to taste: Taste the dip and add salt as needed, usually about ¼ teaspoon depending on the saltiness of the smoked salmon. Blend briefly to mix the salt throughout.
  4. Serve: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and enjoy it immediately with bagel chips, crackers, or use it as a spread for bagels.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use high-quality smoked salmon and fresh herbs.
  • You can adjust the amount of Tabasco or lemon juice to taste depending on your preference for spice and acidity.
  • This dip is best served fresh but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, finely chop the smoked salmon and herbs and mix everything by hand until smooth and well combined.
