Description

This Longhorn Steakhouse-inspired Broccoli recipe offers a simple yet delicious way to prepare tender broccoli florets sautéed in garlic butter and topped with Parmesan cheese. Perfect as a flavorful side dish to complement steaks or any main course, it’s quick to make and full of rich, savory flavors.

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 1 pound broccoli (washed and cut into florets)

Dairy

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasoning

  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Boil the broccoli: Add 2 cups of water to a large saucepan and season it with salt. Bring the water to a rolling boil on the stovetop, then add the broccoli florets. Cook the broccoli for 2 to 4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  2. Drain broccoli: Carefully drain the hot water from the saucepan and set the broccoli aside to keep warm.
  3. Sauté garlic in butter: In the same saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes or until fragrant, making sure the garlic does not burn.
  4. Toss broccoli with garlic butter: Add the drained broccoli back into the saucepan and toss thoroughly to coat all florets evenly with the garlic butter mixture.
  5. Add Parmesan and seasonings: Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the broccoli and toss again to distribute. Taste and adjust seasoning by adding salt and pepper as desired.
  6. Serve: Transfer the garlic Parmesan broccoli to a serving dish and serve immediately as a delicious side dish with your favorite steak or main course.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the broccoli to keep it tender yet slightly crisp for the best texture.
  • You can substitute Parmesan with Pecorino Romano for a different cheese flavor.
  • For extra flavor, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice just before serving.
  • This dish can be doubled easily to serve more guests.
  • Use fresh garlic instead of pre-minced for better taste.
