Description

Delicious and quick Honey Garlic Shrimp recipe featuring a sweet and savory sauce made with honey, tamari soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. Perfectly cooked shrimp are marinated and pan-seared, then finished in a flavorful garlic sauce for an easy, protein-packed meal ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Sauce:

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup tamari soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

For Cooking:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound raw shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped cilantro or parsley
  • 1 green onion (thinly sliced)

Instructions

  1. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, stir together honey, tamari soy sauce, minced garlic, freshly grated ginger, and crushed red pepper flakes until well combined.
  2. Marinate the shrimp: Place the peeled and deveined shrimp in a separate bowl. Pour one-third of the prepared sauce over the shrimp and toss to coat evenly. Let the shrimp marinate for 15 to 20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  3. Cook the shrimp: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated shrimp, discarding any leftover marinade. Cook the shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are just cooked through.
  4. Simmer with sauce: Pour the remaining two-thirds of the sauce into the pan with the cooked shrimp. Bring to a simmer and stir gently as the sauce slightly reduces and warms through for about one minute.
  5. Finish and serve: Turn off the heat and stir in the chopped cilantro or parsley. Garnish with thinly sliced green onions on top before serving.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari soy sauce or coconut aminos as suggested.
  • Adjust crushed red pepper flakes according to your spice preference.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or sautéed vegetables.
