Description

A simple and delicious recipe for grilled corn on the cob, offering two methods: grilling with the husks on for a smoky, steamed flavor or direct grilling with olive oil for a charred, savory taste. Perfect for summer barbecues and easy to customize with butter, salt, and pepper.

Ingredients

For Grilling Corn in Husks

  • 4 corn on the cob
  • Water for soaking
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Direct Grilling Corn

  • 4 corn on the cob
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Corn with Husks: Peel back the husks without detaching them from the bottom, remove all silk, then fold husks back to cover the corn.
  2. Soak Corn: Place the corn in a large bowl or sink of water and let soak for at least 15 minutes (can soak overnight for convenience).
  3. Preheat Grill for Husked Corn: Heat the grill to medium-high temperature.
  4. Grill Corn in Husks: Remove corn from water, shake off excess moisture, place on grill, and cook for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally to cook evenly.
  5. Serve Husked Corn: Once grilled to preference, remove husks and serve hot with butter, salt, and pepper.
  6. Prepare Corn for Direct Grilling: Preheat grill to medium heat. Remove husks and silk entirely, then brush each corn piece with olive oil to prevent sticking and promote browning.
  7. Grill Corn Directly: Place the corn on the grill and cook for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally to achieve even grilling and slight charring.
  8. Serve Direct Grilled Corn: Remove from grill and serve immediately with butter, salt, and pepper to taste.

Notes

  • Soaking husked corn helps prevent burning and adds moisture for a steamed effect.
  • Adjust cooking time based on grill temperature and size of corn cobs.
  • Butter can be substituted or flavored with herbs for variety.
  • Use tongs for turning corn to avoid burns.
  • Direct grilling yields a more pronounced smoky flavor with char marks, while grilling in husks produces tender, steamed corn.
