Description

A creamy and tangy Fried Pickle Dip featuring a smooth blend of cream cheese, sour cream, and chopped dill pickles, topped with a crispy, buttery toasted Panko crumb topping. Perfect as a savory appetizer served with thick potato chips or pretzels, this dip is easy to prepare ahead and delivers a delightful contrast of creamy and crunchy textures.

Ingredients

For the Panko Topping

  • 1/2 cup Panko crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

For the Dip

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 2 teaspoons pickle juice
  • 1 cup dill pickles, chopped finely

Instructions

  1. Toast the Panko topping: Heat a dry pan over medium heat and add the butter and Panko crumbs. Stir continuously until the butter is fully absorbed and the Panko turns a toasty light brown color.
  2. Cool and store the Panko: Remove the toasted Panko from heat and spread it on a paper towel to cool completely. Store in an airtight container until ready to use; it can be prepared a few days in advance.
  3. Prepare the dip base: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream until smooth.
  4. Add seasonings: Mix in the garlic powder, onion powder, and pickle juice, stirring well to incorporate all flavors.
  5. Season to taste: Taste the dip and add salt and pepper according to your preference, mixing well.
  6. Fold in chopped pickles: Gently fold the finely chopped dill pickles into the cream cheese mixture to evenly distribute them.
  7. Serve or store: If serving immediately, sprinkle the toasted Panko topping over the dip and pair with thick potato chips or pretzels. If preparing ahead, store the dip in an airtight container for up to 3 days and add the toasted Panko just before serving.
  8. Enjoy: Serve chilled or at room temperature and enjoy this crispy, creamy, tangy appetizer.
