Description

This Easter Dirt Cake is a festive no-bake dessert featuring layers of crushed Oreos, creamy white chocolate pudding mixture, and colorful Easter-themed sprinkles and mini eggs. It's a fun and easy treat perfect for spring celebrations or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Cookies and Toppings

  • 13.29 oz package Oreo cookies
  • mini Oreo cookies
  • 1 cup micro mini eggs (or crushed regular mini eggs or Easter M&Ms)
  • 1/3 cup colorful pastel sprinkles
  • pastel sprinkles for topping
  • mini eggs for topping
  • micro mini eggs for topping

Pudding Mixture

  • 3.4 oz instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • 7 oz white chocolate for melting (about 2 thin white chocolate bars)
  • 12 oz Cool Whip, thawed

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Crush the Oreo cookies using a food processor or by placing them in a large Ziploc bag and crushing with a rolling pin until finely crushed.
  2. Reserve Topping: Set aside 1/4 of the crushed Oreos for topping the dessert later.
  3. Prepare Dish: Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Layer Oreos: Pour half of the crushed Oreos into the baking dish and spread evenly to create the first layer.
  5. Make Pudding Mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk. Use an electric mixer to whip the mixture until it thickens.
  6. Add Cream Cheese: Add softened cream cheese to the thickened pudding mixture and continue to mix with the electric mixer until smooth and free of lumps.
  7. Melt White Chocolate: Place white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until completely melted.
  8. Incorporate White Chocolate: Pour melted white chocolate into the cream cheese mixture and continue mixing with the electric mixer, scraping the bowl’s sides with a rubber spatula to ensure all is combined.
  9. Fold in Cool Whip: Fold the thawed Cool Whip into the cream cheese mixture gently using a rubber spatula to maintain a light texture.
  10. Add Eggs: Stir in the micro mini eggs carefully into the creamy mixture.
  11. Add Sprinkles: Add the pastel sprinkles and stir gently, being careful not to overmix to avoid color bleeding.
  12. Layer Mixture: Spoon half of the pudding mixture over the crushed Oreos in the baking dish and spread evenly.
  13. Add Oreo Layer: Sprinkle the remaining half of the crushed Oreos evenly over the pudding layer.
  14. Top with Remaining Mixture: Spoon the remaining pudding mixture over the Oreo layer and spread evenly.
  15. Chill: Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 3 hours to allow the dessert to set.
  16. Add Final Toppings: Right before serving, remove from the fridge and sprinkle the reserved 1/4 cup crushed Oreos on top.
  17. Decorate: Add mini Oreos, additional pastel sprinkles, mini eggs, and micro mini eggs as a colorful finishing touch.
  18. Serve: Serve chilled and enjoy this festive Easter dessert!

Notes

  • For best results, ensure cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the mixture.
  • Micro mini eggs add great texture and color but can be substituted with crushed mini eggs or Easter M&Ms if unavailable.
  • Be gentle when folding sprinkles into the mixture to prevent color bleed.
  • This dessert is best served chilled and can be prepared a day ahead.
