Description
Dubai Chocolate Strawberries is a decadent and visually stunning dessert featuring layers of toasted kataifi pastry combined with a rich pistachio cream, fresh strawberries, and luscious melted chocolate. This no-bake layered treat offers a delightful contrast of textures and flavors, perfect for a quick yet impressive dessert.
Ingredients
Kataifi Mixture
- 150 g kataifi (dried and chopped)
- 52 g unsalted butter
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp tahini
- 290 g pistachio cream (see notes)
Chocolate and Strawberries
- 340 g chocolate (dark or milk)
- 680 g strawberries
Instructions
- Make the Dubai Chocolate Filling: Melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat, then add the kataifi pastry. Cook it until it turns a lovely golden toasted color, stirring occasionally. This should take about 10 minutes on medium heat.
- Prepare Pistachio Mixture: In a large bowl, stir together the pistachio cream, tahini, and salt until fully combined, creating a smooth and creamy filling.
- Combine Kataifi and Pistachio Cream: Add the toasted kataifi to the pistachio cream mixture and thoroughly stir to evenly distribute the toasted strands. Cover and set aside until ready to assemble.
- Prepare Strawberries: Wash the strawberries thoroughly and dry them completely. Slice them into halves or quarters depending on their size.
- Melt Chocolate: Melt the chocolate in the microwave using 30-second bursts, stirring well between each burst, until smooth and fully melted.
- Assemble the Dessert: Place a layer of sliced strawberries at the bottom of serving glasses. Drizzle with melted chocolate over the strawberries.
- Add Pistachio Filling: Spoon a layer of the pistachio and kataifi mixture on top of the chocolate layer.
- Repeat Layers: Continue layering strawberries, melted chocolate, and pistachio filling until the glasses are filled, finishing with a top layer of fresh strawberries and a drizzle of melted chocolate.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the dessert immediately to enjoy the perfect texture, as the chocolate will begin to set if left to sit.
Notes
- Pistachio cream can be homemade by blending roasted pistachios with a little sugar and oil until smooth, or purchased pre-made from specialty stores.
- To maintain the kataifi's crunch, toast it just before assembling and avoid letting it sit in moisture for long periods.
- You can use either dark or milk chocolate according to your preference.
