Description
Crispy and flavorful carrot fries made with a perfect blend of spices and cornstarch to achieve a delightful crunch, available in two cooking methods: oven roasted or air fried. A healthy, tasty snack or side dish served best with spicy sriracha mayo.
Ingredients
Carrot Fries
- 2 pounds carrots
- 3 Tablespoons olive oil
- 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Sriracha Mayo (for serving)
- Sriracha mayo to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven or Air Fryer: For oven method, preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or foil. For air fryer method, preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and lightly coat the basket with cooking spray.
- Prepare Carrots: Peel carrots and cut crosswise into 3-inch pieces. Then slice each piece lengthwise into 1/3-inch thick planks, followed by cutting into 1/3-inch thick sticks. Place all carrot sticks in a large mixing bowl.
- Season Carrots: Sprinkle with cornstarch, paprika, kosher salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Toss to coat evenly. Drizzle olive oil over the carrots and toss again to ensure all sticks are well coated.
- Oven Method: Spread carrot sticks evenly on lined baking sheets without overlapping for maximum crispness. Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through baking to achieve even browning.
- Air Fryer Method: Arrange carrot sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding crowding. Cook in batches if necessary. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through for uniform cooking and crispiness.
- Serve: Remove cooked carrot fries from oven or air fryer and serve immediately with sriracha mayo on the side for dipping.
Notes
- For crispier fries, ensure carrot sticks are spread in a single layer without overlapping.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more paprika or garlic powder if desired.
- Sriracha mayo can be purchased or easily made by mixing mayonnaise with sriracha sauce according to heat preference.
- Air frying typically results in quicker cooking and slightly crisper fries compared to oven roasting.
- Leftover fries can be reheated in the oven or air fryer to regain crispiness.
