Description

A vibrant and refreshing Blue Spirulina Smoothie packed with tropical flavors from pineapple and banana, creamy coconut milk, and a nutritious boost of blue spirulina. Naturally sweetened with maple syrup and topped with toasted coconut flakes for added texture and taste, perfect for a quick and healthy snack or breakfast.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 1 cup Frozen Pineapple
  • 1 small Frozen Banana
  • 1 wedge Fresh Pineapple

Dairy & Alternatives

  • 3/4 cup Coconut Milk (carton)
  • 1/4 tablespoon Coconut Yogurt (unsweetened)

Superfoods & Sweeteners

  • 1-2 teaspoons Blue Spirulina
  • 1-2 teaspoons Maple Syrup

Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Desiccated Coconut
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted Coconut Flakes

Instructions

  1. Blend Ingredients: In a high-speed blender, add frozen pineapple, frozen banana, coconut milk, coconut yogurt, blue spirulina, maple syrup, and desiccated coconut. Blend on high speed until smooth. Use the tamper attachment to help swirl ingredients towards the blade if the mixture is too thick.
  2. Adjust Consistency and Color: If the smoothie is too thick, add a splash of coconut milk to thin it out. If too thin, add more frozen fruits or some ice and blend again. For a more vibrant blue color, increase blue spirulina by up to 1 extra teaspoon without affecting flavor.
  3. Serve and Garnish: Pour the smoothie into glasses and serve immediately. Garnish with banana slices and toasted coconut flakes for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use frozen fruits to achieve a creamy, chilled texture without adding ice that can dilute flavor.
  • Blue spirulina is used primarily for color and antioxidant benefits and does not significantly alter taste.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying maple syrup quantity according to preference.
  • For a thicker smoothie, incorporate additional frozen fruit or desiccated coconut.
