Description

Delicious and flavorful Balsamic Salmon Bites featuring tender salmon cubes glazed with a sweet and tangy balsamic marinade, pan-seared to perfection. Ready in just 25 minutes, this easy recipe is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner with a gourmet touch.

Ingredients

Salmon Bites

  • 1 1/2 lbs skinless salmon, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (divided)

Balsamic Marinade

  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Balsamic Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, crushed garlic, and salt and pepper. Set the marinade aside to let the flavors meld.
  2. Season the Salmon Cubes: Cut the skinless salmon into approximately 1-inch cubes. In a separate bowl, toss the salmon pieces with salt, black pepper, Italian seasoning, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil until evenly coated.
  3. Sear the Salmon: Heat a pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the salmon cubes in a single layer. Cook for about 5 minutes undisturbed to develop a browning crust, then carefully flip and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until the salmon is browned on all sides.
  4. Glaze the Salmon: Use a paper towel to absorb any excess oil from the pan. Pour the prepared balsamic marinade over the browned salmon bites. Reduce the heat to medium-low and spoon the marinade continuously over the salmon while it simmers. Cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, or until the glaze thickens and bubbles, coating the salmon pieces beautifully.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Transfer the balsamic-glazed salmon bites to a serving dish and garnish with additional Italian seasoning to enhance the flavor just before serving.

Notes

  • Use skinless salmon for easier cooking and eating.
  • Maple syrup can be substituted with honey for a slightly different sweetness.
  • Adjust salt and pepper to taste according to your preference.
  • Serve with sides like pearl couscous, pesto pasta, or green goddess orzo for a complete meal.
  • Ensure the pan is adequately heated to achieve a nice sear on the salmon cubes.
