Description

These Baked Honey Mustard Boneless Wings are a deliciously tangy and sweet chicken dish that's crispy on the outside and tender inside. Perfectly seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic, and onion powders, then baked to perfection and tossed in a homemade honey mustard sauce with a hint of chipotle and cayenne for a subtle kick. A healthier alternative to fried wings, great as an appetizer or main dish paired with fries or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 2 pounds boneless chicken breasts, cut into cubes or strips
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour or gluten-free flour
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

For the Honey Mustard Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly rub it with oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Season the Chicken: On the prepared baking sheet, toss the cubed or sliced chicken breasts with smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated. Sprinkle the flour over the chicken and toss again to coat well.
  3. Add Oil and Bake: Drizzle 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil over the chicken and toss once more to coat thoroughly. Spread the chicken pieces evenly on the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and slightly golden.
  4. Make the Sauce: While the chicken bakes, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, lemon juice, chipotle chili powder, cayenne pepper, and salt in a bowl or glass jar. Mix well and taste; adjust salt as needed.
  5. Toss Chicken in Sauce: Once the chicken is done, pour the honey mustard sauce over it and gently toss the pieces to coat evenly in the sauce.
  6. Serve: Serve the coated chicken with additional honey mustard sauce on the side. Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley if desired. For a complete meal, pair the wings with homemade fries, especially sweet potato fries for a tasty combination.
