Description

This quick and flavorful Air Fryer Halibut recipe offers perfectly cooked, flaky halibut filets seasoned with a simple garlic and paprika dry rub. Paired with crisp-tender green beans, this healthy meal comes together in just 15 minutes, making it ideal for a nutritious weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Halibut and Seasoning

  • 2 6-ounce halibut filets (skinless)
  • Olive oil spray
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (sweet or smoked)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch black pepper

Green Beans

  • 1/2 pound green beans (trimmed)
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

To Serve

  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare dry rub: In a small bowl, whisk together garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create the dry rub seasoning for the halibut.
  2. Season halibut: Pat halibut filets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Sprinkle the dry rub evenly over all sides of the filets, gently coating them.
  3. Preheat air fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) and allow it to preheat fully for best cooking results.
  4. Prepare air fryer basket: Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the seasoned halibut filets in a single layer inside the basket.
  5. Cook halibut: Air fry the halibut for 6-7 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. An internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) confirms it is done.
  6. Cook green beans (optional): If your air fryer basket is spacious, toss trimmed green beans with 2 teaspoons of olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. Add them alongside the halibut halfway through cooking, tossing once during the cooking process to ensure even roasting.
  7. Serve: Remove the halibut and green beans from the air fryer. Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges for squeezing over the fish for added brightness.

Notes

  • Ensure halibut filets are of even thickness for uniform cooking.
  • You can substitute sweet or smoked paprika depending on your flavor preference.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the fish reaches the safe internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • If your air fryer basket is small, cook green beans separately to prevent overcrowding.
  • Lemon wedges add a fresh, acidic finish that complements the mild flavor of halibut.
