Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Chicken Bites seasoned with a Cajun spice blend, perfect for a quick and delicious appetizer or snack. These bite-sized chicken pieces are cooked to perfection in the air fryer, offering a healthier alternative to fried chicken with a sweet and spicy twist.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 2 pounds chicken breast (boneless and skinless, cut into 1-inch chunks)

Spice Mix

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Cut the chicken breasts into 1-inch chunks, making sure the pieces are uniform for even cooking. Place the chicken pieces in a large mixing bowl and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Season the Chicken: Add the brown sugar, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and optional cayenne pepper to the bowl with the chicken. Toss everything together thoroughly to coat all the chicken pieces evenly with the spice mixture.
  3. Preheat and Arrange: Using tongs, transfer the seasoned chicken pieces to the air fryer basket, arranging them in a single layer. If necessary, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the basket.
  4. Air Fry the Chicken: Cook the chicken bites at 400°F for 10 minutes, tossing the pieces halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning. Check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F and that there is no pink inside before serving.

Notes

  • For less heat, reduce or omit the cayenne pepper especially for picky eaters.
  • Cook in batches if your air fryer basket is small to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  • Ensure chicken is cooked through; a kitchen thermometer reading of 165°F is recommended.
  • Brown sugar adds a subtle sweetness that balances the spiciness of the Cajun seasoning.
